A search of Australia Dancing will initially result in one of three outcomes: a full record display, a list of brief records, or an unsuccessful search message.
If only one entry is found to match your search query, the Result Set will be a full record display.
Every item in Australia Dancing has a full entry, the content of which will vary slightly according to whether the record describes a subject (people, companies, performances) or a resource. A screen shot of a full record is below:

When the whole entry is displayed, all the fields that have been included in the record will appear on the screen, but fields that do not include any information are suppressed from display. All of the links within the record can be used to locate other materials relating to the selected heading.
If more than one entry is found, the Result Set will be a list of brief records which match your search query. Australia Dancing search results are sorted differently for subjects (people, companies, performances) and resources (ephemera, manuscripts, moving pictures, musical sound recording, notated score, oral history, picture, printed music, website). Subjects are sorted by name and resources by title, ignoring leading articles.
At the top of the Result Set page you will find a summary of the search results, for example: Displaying 4 records from your search on the Australian Dance Collection for: All entries: kate champion, see the screen shot below:

The information recorded in the brief record is sufficient to identify the item. Click on the name or title to view a full record display for the selected item.
If your search has been unsuccessful, you will receive this message:
No entries were found from your search of the Australian Dance Collection for: your search term
If you do not define a search term, all records in the database will be returned as the search result. Similarly, if you have limited your search to people, companies, performances or resources but do not define a search term you will return all records in the database that have a subject of people, companies and performances or all records that are defined as resources respectively.
