Bondi Ballet was established in 2001 by Michael Montgomery. The company gave its initial season, Project Far Pavilion, in November 2001. Subsequent seasons included Bondi Rocks in 2002 and Beyond Bondi and Bondi Spirit both in 2003.

Bondi Ballet commissioned its repertoire and featured the work of Montgomery and James Taylor, its two resident choreographers, along with the work of winners of its choreographic competitions. Winners of the competition included Paulina Quinteros and Jonathan Rosten in 2002 and Jason Pitt in 2003.

Montgomery remained artistic director throughout the life of the company, which ceased operations in 2007.
