Russian-born Serge Bousloff joined Colonel de Basil's Ballets Russes in Europe in 1934. He came to Australia on tour with the Covent Garden Russian Ballet in 1938 and, with his wife, Kira Abricossova Bousloff, and several colleagues, stayed at the end of the tour in 1939.

In Australia Bousloff danced in early Borovansky Ballet seasons and briefly with the Kirsova Ballet. He also worked with the National Theatre Ballet and helped restage Prince Igor for that company in 1949. In 1949 he also staged Le Carnaval for Ballet Guild. He continued to dance with the Borovansky Ballet in the 1950s and also ran a small business in Melbourne making ballet shoes.
