Founded in 1991 by Sally Chance and Tania Rose, Restless Dance Company works with young performers both with and without a disability. The company creates dance theatre, runs workshops and tours throughout South Australia and interstate.
Restless Dance choreography is based on a model of interaction that does not rely on mimicry or acting in the traditional sense, but integrates the individual stories and emotions of the dancers. The cast is varied and can include dancers in wheelchairs, partially blind performers and dancers with physical or mental disabilities.
Restless Dance Company has performed in SA Dance Spectacular (2001), National Youth Dance Festival (1997) and at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Arts Festival. Company performances have included Before You Were Blonde (1992), Ikons (1993, 1994), Love Dances (1994), The Flight (1998), Precious (1999), Talking Down (2000), Come Out (2001), Headlong (2001), in the blood (2002), The Singing of Angels (2003), Starry Eyed (2003), Home (2003), and Landmark (2004).
