Leon Woizikowsky was born in Warsaw, Poland, and was a pupil of Enrico Cecchetti at the Imperial Theatre School in Warsaw.
Woizikowsky came to Australia as ballet master and principal dancer with the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet on their tour of 1936-1937. He was accompanied by his wife, Elena Antonova, and his daughter, Sonia Woizikowska (Wojcikowska). In Australia he was acclaimed for his portrayal of Petrouchka and performed leading roles in many other ballets including Scheherazade and Le Beau Danube. In 1936, during his first season in Melbourne the critic for The Argus spoke of him in the following terms:
Leon Woizikowsky has no need to obtrude his gifts or to monopolise the limelight. His talent is self-evident, his technical control swift and unerring, his rhythm no affair of mechanical timing, but an emotional amplification of the musical phrase.
'Grace and beauty in Russian Ballet: Triumph of Leon Woizikowski', The Argus, 2 November 1936, p. 17.
