Founded by Gabrielle Sullivan and Sue Peacock in 2002, STRUT Dance provides business, artistic, programming and promotional support to its membership of professional contemporary Western Australian dance artists.

STRUT organises regular studio showings at the King Street studios in Perth. It also provides administrative and publicity assistance for independent projects and promotes the participation of independent artists in dance seasons with the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Deckchair Theatre, The Blue Room, the Artrage festival, and the Perth International Arts Festival.

STRUT dance also has a professional development program for its members, which includes weekly technique classes, regular master classes, workshops and information sessions with visiting artists or artists from allied arts practices.

Several prominent Australian choreographers are STRUT members. These include Chrissie Parrott, Phillipa Clarke, Claudia Alessi, Sue Peacock, Jo Pollitt and Sete Tele. STRUT has also hosted a number of renowned international dance artists including Didier Theron, Hans Van den Broeck, Akram Kahn, Paul Gazzola, Carol Brown and Thomas Lehmen.

Works supported by STRUT have been diverse in both style and theme. Recent independent works that have received support include Hoofas by Sue Peacock, Packed like Sardines in a Football Stadium by Bianca Martin, Wildcards by Clare Dyson, and The Tenants by Didier Theron.
