Sue Peacock was born in Perth, Western Australia. She trained initially at the Graduate College of Dance and then travelled to Adelaide to study at the Centre for Performing Arts before being offered a contract with the Australian Dance Theatre (ADT).
Peacock joined ADT in 1981, performing both nationally and internationally for eight years under two directors, Jonathan Taylor and Leigh Warren. She continued her professional performance career with companies such as the One Extra Dance Company, Fieldworks Performance Group, Limbs (NZ), ID339 Dancegroup and Co.Loaded, and in various freelance engagements with artists such as Chrissie Parrott, Helen Herbertson and Olivia Millard. During this time she completed her BA in Women's Studies at Deakin University and later honours in Dance at Edith Cowan University. She is currently training in the Feldenkrais Method.
As a choreographer, Peacock has made work for the Australian Dance Theatre, the One Extra Company, 2-Dance Plus, Chrissie Parrott Dance Company, the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Steps Youth Dance Company, Deckchair Theatre Company, Extensions, Dance North, Co.Loaded, LINK, AIT Arts Adelaide and Expressions Dance Company. Her more significant independent works include Watershed, Give up the Ghost(2004 Perth International Arts Festival), Hoofas and Questions Without Notice.
Peacock is a founding member and the artistic program manager of STRUTdance Inc. She currently lectures in contemporary dance at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. In her wide involvement with the dance sector she has been a board member of Ausdance WA and PICA, sat on the Asialink Performing Arts Panel, a mentor for the SPARK program, and a member of the Future Moves steering committee. Her awards include a 2002/03 Churchill Fellowship, and a 2004 ArtsWA Creative Development Fellowship. She received West Australian Dance Awards for Best Female Dancer in 2005 and Services to Dance in 2006. In 2010 she was the recipient of an Australian Dance Award for outstanding achievement in independent dance for her work Questions Without Notice.
